Pre-packaged Magnesium Alloy Sacrificial Anode

Features

Easy Installation: The pre-packaged design reduces on-site construction difficulty and time. During installation, simply bury the anode near the metal structure to be protected and connect the cable.

High-Efficiency Corrosion Protection: Operates on the electrochemical principle to actively "sacrifice" itself to inhibit corrosion of the protected metal. Magnesium alloy features a negative anode potential and high electrical output per unit mass, enabling effective protection in various environments.

Low Maintenance Cost: When anode performance declines or is severely consumed, only the anode needs replacement, avoiding large-scale repairs or replacements of the entire system.

Composition: Typically consists of a magnesium alloy anode body, cable conductor, backfill material, cotton bag, and outer plastic woven bag. The backfill is usually a mixture of gypsum powder, bentonite, Na₂SO₄, etc., which reduces resistance between the anode and electrolyte, prevents anode polarization, and enhances protection effectiveness.

Cathodic Protection Construction

Construction Process

Earthwork Excavation: The excavation depth is generally greater than 1 meter and not less than the pipeline depth. The sacrificial anode must be buried below the frost line.

Distance Between Anode and Pipeline: Typically 3-5 meters from the pipeline, with a minimum distance of 0.3 meters. There should be no other metal objects in between.

Anode Welding: The connection between the sacrificial anode assembly and the pipeline is usually made using thermite welding. During construction, ensure the cable of the sacrificial anode assembly has some slack to avoid weld point detachment or cable disconnection during backfilling.

Weld Point Anti-Corrosion Treatment: Apply hot melt adhesive around the weld point, then use a repair patch for sealing.

Earthwork Backfilling: When backfilling the sacrificial anode, water thoroughly to ensure full penetration. For every 20-30 cm layer of backfilled soil, compact and water it. Wait for the water to seep through before continuing backfilling and compaction.

Wear Protective Equipment: Operators should wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and safety helmets, to avoid injuries during installation.

Regular Inspection and Maintenance: After installation, regularly check the connection points between the anode and cable, as well as between the anode and pipeline, to ensure they are secure and free from looseness. Regularly measure the anode's potential to assess its protective effectiveness and perform adjustments and maintenance as needed.
